Counselor Trainees

What is a Counselor Trainee?

A Student Counselor, Counselor Trainee, is one who is still in the process of graduate school. They generally have taken most, if not all, of their classes and are ready to put their knowledge to use. All Counselor Trainees have a fully Independently  Licensed Therapist, who has additional Endorsement from their State Licensing Board, to act as a Supervisor/Mentor and Teacher for the Trainee during the process.  Having a supervisor means that there are extra people making sure that you, the client, get the best possible care from your therapist!  Occasionally, the students may film or record a session (with your consent) or have a supervisor sit in (again, with your consent!) in order to make sure that they are giving you the best treatment possible!

Rev. Robert Tansill, CT

Hello! I am Robert Tansill. I am currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling at Winebrenner Seminary, where I am learning to integrate evidence-based therapeutic approaches with deeply rooted Christian values. With over 35 years of pastoral ministry in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, I bring a compassionate, faith-informed perspective to the counseling space. I have walked alongside people through life’s most challenging seasons—and now, I am expanding that care through clinical training. At Serenity, I work alongside seasoned therapists to help create a safe, nurturing environment for clients. I am deeply grateful to be part of such a supportive and mission-driven team.
